چکیده

We examine the CP properties of chiral gauge theory defined by a formulation of the domain wall fermion, where the light field variables q and q̄ together with Pauli-Villars fields Q and Q̄ are utilized. It is shown that this domain wall representation in the infinite flavor limit N = ∞ is valid only in the topologically trivial sector, and that the conflict among lattice chiral symmetry, strict locality and CP symmetry still persists for finite lattice spacing a. The CP transformation generally sends one representation of lattice chiral gauge theory into another representation of lattice chiral gauge theory, resulting in the inevitable change of propagators. A modified form of lattice CP transformation motivated by the domain wall fermion, which keeps the chiral action in terms of the Ginsparg-Wilson fermion invariant, is analyzed in detail; this provides an alternative way to understand the breaking of CP symmetry at least in the topologically trivial sector. We note that the conflict with CP symmetry could be regarded as a topological obstruction. We also discuss the issues related to the definition of Majorana fermions in connection with the supersymmetric Wess-Zumino model on the lattice.

Rough Gauge Fields, Smearing and Domain Wall Fermions

At a fixed lattice spacing, as determined by say mρ, adding additional fermion flavors to a dynamical simulation produces rougher gauge field configurations at the lattice scale. For domain wall fermions, these rough configurations lead to larger residual chiral symmetry breaking and larger values for the residual masses, mres. We discuss ongoing attempts to reduce chiral symmetry breaking for ...

Fermi Ball Detection

The detectability of charged SLAC-bag type structures is considered. These objects, known as Fermi balls, arise from the spontaneous symmetry breaking of a biased discrete symmetry in the early universe. Two classes of experimental searches are discussed. Since Fermi balls in the theoretically favoured mass range are absorbed by the atmosphere, direct experimental searches are confined to space...

Low energy effective action of domain-wall fermion and the Ginsparg-Wilson relation

We derive the effective action of the light fermion field of the domain-wall fermion, which is referred as q(x) by Furman and Shamir. The inverse of the effective Dirac operator turns out to be identical to the inverse of the truncated overlap Dirac operator, except a local contact term which would give the chiral symmetry breaking in the Ginsparg-Wilson relation. This result allows us to relat...

Supersymmetry breaking and Fermi balls.

The possibility exists that the early universe experienced a sequence of symmetry breaking phase transitions, which could have resulted in the production of defects, such as monopoles, cosmic strings, or domain walls [1–3]. Furthermore, it is possible that supersymmetry could have been physically realized during early epochs, becoming broken after defect formation, at a lower energy scale. It i...

Improving Dynamical Domain-Wall Fermion Simulations

We report on studies of the chiral properties of dynamical domain wall fermions combined with the DBW2 gauge action for different gauge couplings and fermion masses. For quenched theories, the DBW2 action gives a residual chiral symmetry breaking much smaller than what was found with more traditional choices for the gauge action. Our goal is to investigate the possibilities which this and furth...
